Nawaz Sharif Sweats His First Sweat

Pakistani Politics. A social construction that can best be described as a dish where you end up licking all five fingers. It is something that you read or watch, and whilst you end up agreeing with one individual or an approach that is being presented, you are still left having trust issues on believing what you acknowledged to be true.

This reflection is about the 'Comments' that I usually dedicate another two or three minutes to the actual article, in order to avoid myself from being myopic. What you find on YouTube is not necessarily present here, or of what I have read most of the times. People who leave their comments express their true opinion, their support, and more importantly their reasons of why they hold that position in their lives.

There is an overwhelming support for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Inssaf and its Party Leader Imran Khan in the comments, which would even be obvious to anyone who does not keep in touch with politics. In addition, these individuals include a point or two about how the current government, PML-N, has failed as a ruling party in the time period that the citizens of Pakistan have granted it and therefore, remarking that they no longer want that leadership.

Whilst all of that is fine since politics is nothing without its critics and 'pointing fingers', I would like to know more about the upcoming movement by the PTI and PAT on August 14th, 2014. Yes, Imran Khan has shown that he can motivate people to do what he wants (maybe extend that to the cricket fields as well), but what does the ordinary citizen know about how he would manage the same issues that the current government has failed miserably at? Does he have a solid plan, listing the priorities and how each priority would be implemented or are people using a band-wagon effect, going where the crowd goes. What will he do differently? What makes him different from all the other rulers that have been ousted? How long do we give him? A year or the complete 5 years?

Are citizens of crippled Pakistan turning towards a small light that they see at the end of the tunnel but never reach to it, or are they out of options having tried Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, yet hopeful for Musharraf's return. Or is it that the people of Pakistan now well informed, knowledgeable, and had enough of being played and exercise what the true meaning of democracy is? I guess only time will tell...
